Hurry...submission deadline is Oct. 20th!LGBT Day of History, scheduled for December 12, 2008, is a day of educational activities aimed at raising awareness in our schools about the contributions,
struggles, and accomplishments of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender
(LGBT) people in the United States.
Despite the fact that Wisconsin law forbids schools from discriminating against
gay and lesbian students on a curricular basis, most students learn little to
nothing about LGBT issues while in school.
Student leaders from around Wisconsin have worked with GSAFE staff to identify
concrete ways to shine a spotlight on the rich history of LGBT people in student
clubs, in the classroom, and in the school.
The Fill in the Blanks Contest is an opportunity for students to submit original
poster or video artwork that responds to the question, “Why is learning about
LGBT people, history, and issues in school important to you?” It is also an
opportunity for students to share their ideas on how schools can be more
inclusive of LGBT issues and people.
Contest submissions are due October 20, 2008 by 6:00 P.M.
Please visit the “Students and GSAs” section of the GSAFE website to learn
more about and register your GSA or student club for the 2008 LGBT Day of
History and for more details about the Fill in the Blanks Contest.
